After his grandfather dies, 16 year-old John Grady Cole has very little reason to stay in Texas. The allure of unseen lands beckons and he and his friend set out for Mexico. On their journey across the hard-scrabble land the boys meet adventure and fright, all while growing in character and fortitude.
