- Full title :Chapter 24-Extender Pigments / HP. Ralston.
Summary
COATING FORMULATORS FREQUENTLY USE extender pigments to reduce the raw material cost of a coating formulation and, in some cases, improve coating performance. Extender pigments are relatively inexpensive compared to titanium dioxide or color pigments and are easily incorporated into a coating. Most are white or near-white inorganic minerals, beneficiated to varying degrees, with a coarser particle size and lower oil absorption (binder demand) than primary pigments.
