Summary

In this book, the author intends to study the concept of "cultures," underlining the plural and renouncing the singular. With this theoretical and political exercise, Rodrigo Montoya avoids giving in to the western notion of "culture," which highlights its uniqueness and is confused with "high culture" and fine arts. In this way, a decolonial position is assumed, to the extent that diversity and conflicting heterogeneity, characteristics of our reality, are accepted. The classical anthropological notion of "culture" is evoked, as a way of thinking, living, being and feeling of the peoples; and it is identified with the struggles of the ethnic and political movements of the Latin American Indians who, only in the last third of the twentieth century, were able to raise their voices and claim for their rights.
