Summary
"Vozes do golpe" brings together four accounts - three fictional and one documentary - about experiences linked to the military coup of March 31, 1964 (or April 1). The texts recall the events that overthrew President João Goulart and established the authoritarian regime that lasted for more than twenty years (1964-1985), whose reflexes are still present in the lives of Brazilians. In "Mãe Judia , 1964" Moacyr Scliar creates a fictional narrative about the intricate psychiatric case in which a newly graduated doctor becomes aware of the monologue of a patient in the hospital where he works. This is a Jewish lady who went crazy after the disappearance of her son, involved with guerrilla groups in Porto Alegre in 1964.
