Abstract: The test summarizes packaging regulations in the United States and Canada through discussions of government agencies' handling procedures for packaging and by categorizing packaging by function. Religious reguations dealing with the packaging industry are included. Background and explanations of regulations are given for: 1) the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FDC Act) - 1938; 2) the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act (1967); 3) activities and services under the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA); consumer and industrial product safety regulations; 4) state, local, federal and military regulations; 5) special regulations for products not fitting into any discrete category such as Controlled Substances Act -1970, cigarette labeling and advertising, alcoholic beverages and kosher laws ; 6) carrier rules; 7) patents, trademarks and copyrights; and 8) Canadian regulations.
