Victorian vocalists

Victorian Vocalists is a masterful collection of biographies of some of the stars, secrets, and forgotten names of the British musical halls. Kurt Ganzl, among the world's leading authorities on popular musical theatre, paints a vivid picture of the world of Victorian musical theatre. Revealing the backgrounds, journeys, successes and sometimes misdemeanours of one hundred singers, this volume is not only an outstanding reference work for anyone interested in vocalists of the late 19th century, but also a compelling, meticulously researched chronicle of life on the Victorian stage.

Kurt Gänzl is a New Zealand author.
