Summary
The problem is Christian school principals, teachers, and parents perceived the implementation of Christian practices by the principal based on the school’s mission statement to achieve an authentic Christian school culture differently. The purpose of this qualitative exploratory single case study was two-fold: (1) To understand how the principal of a Christian school perceived the implementation of Christian practices based on the school’s mission statement to achieve an authentic Christian school culture, and (2) To understand how teachers and a parent perceived the implementation of Christian practices by the principal based on the school’s mission statement to achieve an authentic Christian school culture. Two research questions were addressed in this study: RQ1: How does a principal of a Christian school perceive the implementation of Christian practices based on the school’s mission statement to achieve an authentic Christian school culture? RQ2: How do teachers and a parent perceive the implementation of Christian practices by the principal based on the school’s mission statement to achieve an authentic Christian school culture? Five participants of a single Christian school in a city in Northeastern Pennsylvania were observed, interviewed, and a document analysis conducted. Five themes emerged from the data analysis. Findings added to the body of knowledge. An implication of the study is the findings may provide information educational stakeholders of both Christian schools and other faith-based schools may use to achieve an authentic faith-based school culture in a secular society.
