- Full title :The protege.
Summary
Christian Gillette, Chairman of Everest Capital, private equity firm, is approached by a mysterious man who claims to represent "certain interests in Washington, D.C.", with an offer involving the only currency more valuable to him than money: information about the mother he never knew and the truth about his father's suspicious death. All he has to do is play ball with a shadowy government agency that's guarding a new technology that could be humanity's greatest tool . or its deadliest weapon of terror, to access the secrets of his past. Complicating matters are his young protege, who's hiding a horrific secret, and the feisty scion of a mega-rich investing family who's bought her way into Everest and has a taste for control and an eye on more than the bottom line.
