Recently, automatic age progression has gained popularity due to its numerous applications. Among these is the frequent search for missing people, in the UK alone up to 300,000 people are reported missing every year. Although many algorithms have been proposed, most of the metho…
While polynomial-time approximation algorithms remain a dominant notion in tackling computationally hard problems, the framework of parameterized complexity has been emerging rapidly in recent years. Roughly speaking, the analytic framework of parameterized complexity attempts t…
The focus of this research is concerned with performing forecasting in technoeconomic contexts using a set of certain novel artificial neural networks (ANNs). Relevant efforts in general, entail the task of quantitatively estimating the details about the likelihood of future eve…
This thesis consists of two main parts. In the first part a detailed wireless sensor node model based on CC2430, a system-on-chip IEEE802.15.4 compliance wireless transceiver manufactured by Chipcon, is proposed. The accuracy of the proposed sensor node model is compared with so…
Wireless communications have experienced tremendous growth in the last decade, which has placed significant demand for RF spectrum, leading to spectrum "crunch." Driven by numerous studies that revealed the significant under-utilization of many licensed channels in the VHF and U…
The growing demand for faster connection to the Internet service and wireless multimedia applications has motivated the development of broadband wireless access technologies in recent years. WiMAX has enabled convergence of mobile and fixed broadband networks through a common wi…
