Clean and environmentally friendly technologies are centralizing industry focus towards obtaining long term solutions to many large-scale problems such as energy demand, pollution, and environmental safety. Thin film solar cell (TFSC) technology has emerged as an impressive phot…
Harvesting offshore wind energy has been a primary stimulus for research recently as more shreds of evidence show the highly unexploited potential it carries. As water depth increases, fixed-bottom foundations become impractical and floating solutions must be adopted for offshor…
Sweet sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) is highly promising feedstock for biofuel production. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are known as key regulators in different biological processes including sugar accumulation in sweet sorghum plants. In contrast, little is known about the expression of so…
The Nigerian government established a domestic liquefied petroleum gas penetration program (DLPGPP) to support Nigerian households that still use traditional fuels, which are inefficient and hazardous for users while polluting and degrading the environment. Little is known about…
The research objective of the proposed dissertation is to make best use of available distributed energy resources to meet dynamic market opportunities while accounting for AC physics of unbalanced distribution networks and the uncertainty of distributed solar photovoltaics (PV).…
Renewable energy sources (RESs) are considered as the most reliable option in the terms of reducing CO2 emission. RESs are known by their low operation and maintenance (O&M) cost and easier installation. In the previous years, their reliability was less due to their uncertainty;…
This thesis presents a supervisory hybrid controller for the automatic operation and control of a wind energy conversion and battery storage system. The supervisory hybrid control scheme is based on a radically different approach of modeling and control design, proposed for the …
In this thesis, the impact of wind energy on isolated wind-diesel hybrid grid system and on remote grid connected wind farm were studied. In the case of the wind-diesel system a detailed mathematical model of Cartwright grid system is presented. The impact of a grid connected wi…
