The presence of subseismic scale faulting within high porosity sandstone reservoirs and aquifers represents a significant source of uncertainty for activities such as hydrocarbon production and the geologic sequestration of carbon dioxide. The inability to resolve geometrical pr…

This thesis focuses on determining how forearc strain was and is accommodated by ancient and active faults in the northern forearc of the Cascadia subduction zone on southern Vancouver Island, Canada. By examining these faults, permanent forearc strain can be resolved, helping u…
Scope and method of study. The purpose of this research is to study the data recovery techniques in wormhole networks. As parallel machines are scaled to a large number of processors, the mean time between faults in a system decreases, making fault-tolerance issues more importan…
Flash and other non-volatile memories can have faults that can not be modeled by traditional fault models. Disturb faults are a class of such faults caused by defects within the insulating layer of the memory transistor. There are three types of disturb faults namely, DC-program…
Problems which originate in early development stages can have a lasting influence on the reliability, safety, and cost of a software system. The requirements document, which is usually available at the requirements analysis stage, must be correct, unambiguous, and complete if th…
This dissertation introduces the MODES "method of detecting simple-shear," which is specifically designed for extracting the amount and preferred orientation of simple-shear from the deformation-gradient and velocity-gradient tensors. Because simple-shear is diagnostic of shear …
