Tunnels are classified as complex engineering structures, which requires careful analysis and design procedures. Any instability of tunnels will be highly detrimental to their performance thereby posing a threat to public safety, consequently cause life-threatening and infrastru…
Refracturing of existing horizontal multistage wells has increased over the past decade in the oil industry. This work aims to investigate all the refracturing operations in the most active shale plays in the united states (Bakken, Niobrara, Marcellus, Permian, Eagle Ford, Barne…
The demand on the power grid is constantly increasing. Combining this with the growing amount of renewable energy and widespread integration of distributed generation creates many challenges. These challenges push the power grid closer to its limits and can result in system inst…
Scallops were the third most valuable wild-caught marine animals in the United Kingdom (UK) in 2018, with a first-sale value of £69.7 million. Despite the high relative and absolute economic value of scallop fisheries in the UK, the majority are not managed based on quantitative…
A fundamental principle underpinning conservation is to evaluate the condition of native vegetation relative to a reference state. Many ecological applications require vegetation condition as a spatially-explicit continuous map layer that covers broad landscape-scaled extents. T…
There is a significant interest in harnessing the available flexibility that exists on the demand side of the distribution energy systems by implementing energy storage or demand response programs. Appropriate choices regarding technical design parameters, involvement of flexibi…
The structural design of spacesuits is essential in an advancing future of both Lunar and Martian space exploration. A typical spacesuit is made of sandwich composite material and designed to withstand various pressure and loading conditions while also considering the safety and…
